A Strong Future
With Incredible Growth Comes Incredible Opportunity.
New Mexico is growing at an incredible rate, and there are no signs of stopping.
Construction contractors measure work in hours. Looking at three years of past job statistics, it is clear to see the strong demand for skilled apprentices and Journeymen. From requiring 519-thousand hours from tradesmen in 2004 to nearly 757-thousand hours in 2007, this job growth trend is just partial evidence that the demand for skilled construction workers is booming.
This trend is not going to taper off any time soon. As more people move into the state and as business booms, more facilities will need to be built, and more contractors are going to be paying good money to make sure that their projects can be completed as promised.
One of the biggest challenges facing our growth as a state and a country is a shortage of skilled workers in the building trades. In New Mexico, we are reaching a critical point and need more skilled tradesmen to support our construction growth.
This is why those who enter the trades today have a rosy outlook for their futures. Their skills will be needed on critical jobs in New Mexico for years to come, and those qualified for construction work will command good incomes.
